Former Arsenal star, Martin Keown, has said that Manchester United striker, Alexis Sanchez is a “mercenary” for joining the Red Devils over Manchester City.
Keown received plenty of flack for his comments last week, in which he said: “Sanchez has got to be the biggest mercenary in football… It has been all about the money.”
The 51-year-old again insisted that the Chilean international went for the money, that was why he signed for United instead of City.
“It looked like Alexis Sanchez would go to Man City after he decided he was leaving Arsenal.
“I felt he was going for the money and he was a bit of a mercenary.
“For him to go to United, it had to be about the money.
“I don’t understand why he didn’t go to the best team and Man City are that at the moment,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
Sanchez made his debut for United and provided a second-half assist for Ander Herrera, as Jose Mourinho’s men sealed a comfortable win against Yeovil on Friday.
