Navy Nabs 82 Suspected Oil Thieves In Delta


The Nigerian Navy has said its operatives of have arrested 82 suspected oil thieves In Delta State in the last one month.

Rear Admiral Peter Onaji, Flag Officer commanding logistic command, Oghara who made this known during a courtesy visit to Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, assured of sustenance of peaceful co-existence in the Niger Delta region.

He noted that the logistic command will continue to provide logistic support for Navy formations all over the country, adding that the suspects were arrested mainly in Burutu and Bomadi, including other riverine communities in the Niger-Delta region.

He said, “I want to commend Governor Okowa’s administration for its assistance to the Navy and other security agencies operating in the state. We on our part will ensure peaceful co-existence continue in the Niger-Delta region”.

He disclosed that the suspects had been handed over to the Police for further prosecution.

The Navy boss his men recovered several illegal oil materials such as drums filled with legally refined oil apparatus, including 60 drums of illegally refined oil inside the thick forest of Burutu.

He assured the support of the Navy in securing the water ways and also to be available to tackle security issues as the need arises, emphasizing that the Navy loves peaceful environment.
