Super Eagles duo of vice-captain, Ogenyi Onazi, and Henry Onyekuru were on the scorers chat of their clubs, at the weekend as they recorded their opening season goals in Turkey and Belgium leagues respectively.
Onazi, who played prominent role in the Eagles dounble header game against Cameroon in the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifying matches said he dedicated his goal for Trabzonspor in their 3-1 win over Genclerbirligi in a Turkish Super League game on Sunday to his daughter, Makayla.
The former Lazio star who was an 88th minute substitute hit the target in the 90th minute to seal the victory for his team.
“It was great to come into a game and show what you can do in a minute,” Onazi said
“I give thanks to almighty God for that grace, the goal is for my baby Makayla.”
Also Super Eagles’ , Henry Onyekuru, finally got his first goals of the season when he hit a brace for Anderlecht in their 3-2 win over Lokeren.
The striker opened scoring in the 3rd minute, however he picked up a yellow card in the 59th minute as tension began to rise when Anderlecht were down 2-1.
Onyekuru then equalised in the 77th minute, after some poor defending from the Lokeren team
In China, it was not the same good story, as Super Eagles captain and Tianjin Teda midfielder, Mikel John Obi was on for all 90 minutes in China as Tianjin lost 3-1 to Shanghai SIPG. The midfielder was also yellow-carded in the 34th minute, just as Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo was on the losing side as Guangzhou Evergrande beat Changchun Yatai 3-1,
